Sen. Laphonza Butler, Reps. Lateefah Simon & Sam Liccardo Endorse Michael Tubbs for Lieutenant Governor

LOS ANGELES – U.S. Senator Laphonza Butler (Ret.) and U.S. Representatives Lateefah Simon and Sam Liccardo today announced their endorsements of Michael Tubbs for California lieutenant governor.

“Michael Tubbs has always been about how to do the most good for the most people,” said Senator Butler. “He has blazed trails on innovative policies like universal basic income to expand opportunity and prevent people from falling into homelessness. I’m proud to endorse his campaign and support his positive vision for the future of California.”

“I’ve known Michael Tubbs for years and he is always on the frontlines of finding solutions to our most difficult challenges,” Representative Simon said. “Michael has delivered opportunities for people in need throughout the state – whether helping a kid in Stockton go to college on a scholarship or securing resources for entrepreneurs. Michael’s passion and drive for service is why he will make a great lieutenant governor and why I’m enthusiastically endorsing his campaign.”

“Mayor Michael Tubbs is a problem solver – that’s what mayors have to do every day. Michael rolled up his sleeves to give more kids pathways to education, lower violent crime rates and boost job growth in Stockton,” said Representative Liccardo, who previously served as mayor of San Jose from 2015-2023. “Michael’s ability to bring people together to get things done will make him a great lieutenant governor.”

Tubbs has raised $725,000 since announcing his campaign in mid-July 2024.
