Mayor Michael Tubbs is running for lieutenant governor to build a more affordable California and ensure our government is solving our problems instead of just talking about them. Tubbs has the experience and record of delivering results on the issues that really matter. He is the leader we need to build a California where education – whether vocational programs or college – is accessible to all without crippling debt, where we build enough housing so people can afford to live here, and where we provide a guaranteed basic income to reduce poverty and prevent homelessness.

Mayor Michael Tubbs has the experience and record of delivering results on the issues that really matter:

  • Tubbs rescued Stockton California from the brink of bankruptcy and restored fiscal stability, earning Stockton recognition as the second most fiscally healthy city in California.
  • Tubbs worked with the police to reduce homicides by as much as 40% and led the state in the decline in officer-involved shootings.
  • Tubbs helped to lower the unemployment rate by 60%.
  • Tubbs launched a guaranteed basic income project that demonstrated the power of economic agency and has now been adopted by more than 150 mayors across the United States.

Mayor Michael Tubbs has a bold agenda to make California more affordable:

  • Lower the cost of higher education – including vocational training – to ensure Californians are not held back by crippling debt.
  • Rapidly build housing at all levels – particularly multi-family and near transit stops – to lower the cost of owning a home or paying the rent.
  • Provide a guaranteed basic income to reduce poverty and address the root cause of homelessness.
